Demographic Dividends and African Ascension Through Youth

Authors

Abstract

Africa is growing but not transforming. The service sector, where this growth occurs, is dominated by foreign capital that takes advantage of financial and economic freedom and repatriates the profits without long-term investment in African countries. However, one trump card could change the course of Africa's rising: its growing young population. By empowering its youth, Africa can reap the benefits of its demographic dividend, turning this substantial demographic force into drivers of economic progress, technological innovation, political stability, and sustainable development.
