Abstract

This paper is a research draft that intends  to explain two current processes in Argentina-Brazil relations, not sufficiently addressed by the academic literature: regional disintegration and bilateral decoupling. Based on an analysis of the evolution of bilateral ties, we call attention to the strategic risks associated with a lack of dialogue and joint economic and disaster-response diplomacy. We also warn about the increasingly frequent and inconsistent individual measures and rigid counterpoints between the two countries.
