Abstract

Brazil, anchored in our socio-environmental wealth, could lead global efforts to face the consequences of human activity on the planet. We analyze the factors that inhibit or sabotage this role. We propose the democratic gestation of a new multicultural and multifaceted country project, with a progressive sustainable development model based on education and knowledge, sustainable use and environmental protection, and against social and economic inequalities. We identify the emergence of a world citizenship more conscious and demanding, and suggest the use of the capacity of our diplomacy and civil society in a supranational front in defense of life on the planet.
