The Organization of American States (OAS) at the Crossroads

The Organization of American States (OAS) has just elected a new Secretary General at a time of uncertainty for multilateralism. Based on the historical trajectory of the OAS, this article investigates the main dilemmas currently faced by the Organization with the aim of identifying trends that may affect its future. It also highlights some factors that might have an impact on the search for a more efficient and legitimate OAS.
