Brazil Back in Africa? Challenges and Opportunities for Brazilian Engagement with the African Continent

Abstract

The article addresses challenges and opportunities for the engagement between Brazil and Africa in the third term of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, contemplating diplomatic interaction, the multilateral aspect, the field of defense and security, technical cooperation, commercial and economic relations, and the internal aspects associated with the relationship in the racial dimension and support for Brazilians on the African continent. It presents a propositional analysis revisiting innovative initiatives from previous administrations of the Workers' Party (PT) and the discontinuities that compromised Brazil-Africa relations in the past that can be revised to allow its relaunch.
